Understanding Our Fees

There is no cost for our first meeting. When you meet with us, we will discuss our fees if you choose to hire us.

Some people avoid going to a lawyer because they fear it costs too much. Others go but don't ask about fees because they think it is improper to do so.

There's nothing secret about our fees. You have the right to know how you will be charged, and when you have to pay.

What You Are Paying For

When you hire us, you are buying our time, experience and skill.

Fee Alternatives

FIXED FEE - This is a flat fee regardless of how much work or how many court appearances are involved dependng on the case. We often use this when we can calculate fairly and accurately how much time will be required.

HOURLY RATE - Sometimes we can't predict how much time will be required in a particular case. In those situations, we record the time spent on the case and charge you an hourly rate.

CONTINGENT FEE - You may have a fairly strong case, but you have no funds to pay your lawyer at the beginning of the case.

We may agree to act for you and take our fee as a percentage of the award you eventually receive.

If you win, we receive a fee; if you lose, we don't receive compensation.

The percentage will vary depending on the amount of your claim, the degree of risk involved, and at what stage in the proceedings the case is resolved.

Discussing Fees With Us:

During your first cost-free appointment with us, we will discuss and agree on the followinig:

1. How you will be charged (a fixed fee, an hourly rate, or a contingent fee)

2. What the fee, rate or percentage will be

3. An estimate of the total cost of fees and disbursements

4. When and how you will be billed

Payment Options

We accept cash, credit cards, or your check.

We also offer flexible payment terms.
